Introduction
Hello all, my name is Marco Stitselaar, 43 years old and I'm a SAP Architect working for Capgemini.
I'm now 17 years working in the SAP technical space. First as SAP Basis consultant and later as SAP Migration consultant and SAP Architect.
I work for large customers with big SAP landscapes running lots of exiting projects using new technologies.
Lately I'm working on a new HANA implementation, SAP Fiori POC and the preparations of an OSDB migration of a complete SAP landscape that is going to be moved next month.
I'm totally happy with the company I work for and the clients that I have.
Last month I got the opportunity to visit my colleagues in India Mumbai. It was a really good experience for me to see the work and life from over there.
I saw the poor side but also the nice places and the amazing (and terrifying) traffic Image may be NSFW.

I'm married to Marjolein and I'm father of 2 girls: Laura (10 years old) and Eva (8 years old).

I live in the Netherlands, the land of the wooden shoes and windmills Image may be NSFW.

Strange thing is that people think we all wear wooden shoes here and have many windmills. But that is not true... (fortunately, because those wooden shoes are not comfortable at all!)
What the Netherlands is also known for and what we actually have is lots of flowers.

When colleagues from India visit the Netherlands the Keukenhof is the place they all want to visit :).
Fun Facts about my country
So I come from the Netherlands, or should I say Holland?
Do you know what’s the difference between the two?
The Netherlands is often referred to as Holland. Nevertheless, the official name of the country is the (Kingdom of the) Netherlands.
The Netherlands consists out of twelve provinces. Two of them, North and South Holland, are the two provinces that together make Holland.
Due to the maritime and economic power of these provinces in the 17th century, the Netherlands became known worldwide as Holland.
To make matters even more confusing the inhabitants of the Netherlands are called Dutch :).

What makes you smile / laugh?
My too daughters make me smile all the time!
Here in the Netherlands we now have a hype with making bracelets from small colored elastic bands. Every day they make lots of new ones.
Had you not been into software at all, where would you have been?
I would have been a teacher.
It looks to me a perfect job, teaching young kids how to read or calculate. I think this is even more fulfilling than working in the SAP space :).
Which 5 things do you absolutely want to achieve in life?
I always wanted to get married and have children, and that is already succeeded Image may be NSFW.

To be and to stay happy are the easiest and biggest wishes. And now that I have children it sounds like a cliché, but when they are happy, I'm happy.
For the long term, when the girls have left the house, I hope I can retire in good health and travel around the world with my wife.
What is the best lesson your parents taught you?
My father told me to count only the sunny hours. So when things do not go as planned or are not as nice as you hoped them to be: forget the nasty things and remember the good things.
I hope my children will later also remember this as a lesson from me.
What do you most enjoy on SCN?
Of course the knowledge base where you can instantly find solutions and the technical blogs that people write which are so full of new information for me.
I only recently found out about this Blog It Forware on SCN and I also really enjoy reading other peoples stories.
Now I hand over the BIF to:
I would be happy if you could answer for me:
1) What is your one favorite song all time?
2) What is your favorite country to spend your vacation and why?
3) Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I see in the BIF table that there are some people invited but now yet joined. Just to be sure, I will mention them:
Thanks a lot for reading my blog.
I would appreciate your questions, comments or feedback.
Regards,
Marco Stitselaar
